MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND YOU

THE DESIGNER DRUG MADE FOR YOU

Marijuana is a plant that contains several hundred compounds that can treat an abundance of medical ailments. The compounds work synergistically or together to provide relief of symptoms. There is actually a name for this phenomenon- it is called, the "entourage effect." When you isolate the components you can create different kinds of medicine- this is called, Medical Marijuana!

Cannabis or Marijuana includes 85 cannabinoids which are either psychoactive or non-psychoactive. The 'high" one gets when they smoke marijuana is due to the cannabinoid, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The "relaxation" one gets when they smoke marijuana is due to the cannabinoid, Cannabidiol (CBD). When Medical Marijuana is produced, certain cannabinoids are used to create formulations that can produce relief of many mental and physical symptoms.

To do this, growers can breed particular strains of cannabinoids to produce varying effects. When Marijuana medicine is created, a ratio of particular cannabinoids is formed. The first number is always THC, the second number is always CBD. It is written as a ratio of THC:CBD

Within our body, we have something called, the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which creates and uses cannabinoids as part of our normal functioning. Cannabinoids are known to activate ECS receptors which changes the receptors cellular behavior. CBD improves the ECS' ability to regulate your bodies functioning by blocking a fatty acid called anandamide. This, in turn, will improve your mood and relieve pain.

Consider how you would use Medical Marijuana to relieve your symptoms. Consider what you want to achieve. When you meet with me, Lauraine Kanders, NP via video chat, you will discuss your condition and be guided on the best path to take. To assure that you will continue to achieve your goal,  you will follow up every three months.

One of the most distinguishing differences between prescription medication and medical marijuana is related to legality. With the former, your provider writes you a prescription which is federally acceptable. With the latter, your provider writes you a recommendation which is state acceptable. But, if you think about it, the most distinguishing feature is that you will play a central figure in improving your health. You will be able to meet with a pharmacist to discuss possibilities further. You will be able to treat the symptoms of your condition the way you see fit. You will be able to wean yourself off opioids and other drugs that carry harsh side effects. You will feel empowered when you partner with us.
